Our Story So Far
How Can You Help
Children from this community lack in awareness about education and non-accessibility of resources make them stay away. To begin with intervention, a small step was taken in 2017, Where we built a single room and started a play school named Mahatma Gandhi Vidyashram for these children with lunch and snacks.
- We focus on developing the personality of the kids with the help of regular activities
- We provide hygienic mid day meal
- We also focus of Extra Curricular activities like Yoga, Drawing & painting
- We conduct Art & craft camps, and celebrate important festivals like Diwali, Christmas & Pongal With them
- Classes are taken by 2 dedicated volunteers, who are doing this as a service to the Irular community.
- In our continuous effort it improve the living conditions of this community
- We regularly visit the villages and interact with Local village heads with our solutions for different problems.
- We begin this as a small journey in 2017 now the community has grown to 100+ people
- You can join hands with us in contributing services in the form of Volunteering, Spend time wit the kids
- You can help in development of the play school (Facilities & infrastructure)
- You can contribute towards the mid day meal scheme
M Gandhi Vidhyashramam
Our long-term vision is to expand this to all 47 tribal units of Pondhavakkam, into a high school with hostel (Home Schooling – An innovative approach towards free-hand education, there-by encouraging the children to discover their skills and passion at much earlier age withno societal pressure).
In the year 2015, a small school was inaugurated in the name of “Mahatma Gandhi Play School” with over 40-50 toddlers per year.
A concept of Baal-Wadi was introduced along with a nutritious mid-day meal. This also motivated parents send their children to school on a daily basis. It is worth mentioning, this is accessed by pre-schoolers of all the surrounding 5 tribal units in that region.
Home-schooling, not only provides quality education but also, develops Young Minds tolead a socially responsible life, nurturing serviceto humanity.
